A note about the application process

I'm setting up at an important local market in Charlotte this September. This is an opportunity for you to learn important skills pertaining to running a small business as well as functioning as a professional artist.

Find information about the position below.

If you would like to apply, click the link at the bottom of the page to fill out the online application. You must do this IN ADDITION to emailing Taylor a cover letter describing why you are a great fit for the position. Applications are due by June 30, and applicants will be informed by July 7 if they will be interviewed.

There will be a mandatory online training in July and a mandatory training at my studio in August. Both of these training dates are TBD.

Brand ambassador (seasonal)

Description:

We are looking for enthusiastic Brand Ambassadors to be the face of our company and promote our products and services.

If you enjoy communicating with customers both online and offline, we would like to meet you. To be a successful Brand Ambassador, you will need to attend trade shows and events to showcase our business. You should also be an excellent social media user, with the ability to advertise our products and answer client queries online.

Ultimately, you should be able to increase our business's brand awareness and generate new sales opportunities as well as relationships with our clients.

Responsibilties:

  • Attend the mandatory online training (July) and the mandatory in-person training (August).
  • Promote my booth on social media leading up to and during the market.
  • Assist with set-up the day before the market (some lifting required).
  • The team will be assigned different shifts during the market. Those shifts will require going around the market to attract customers, protecting and promoting inventory at the booth, collecting email addresses, communicating the brand to customers, accepting payment and creating online orders, wrapping up client purchases, restocking, etc.
  • Break down the booth and pack up after the market.

goals (you will be trained on these):

  • Learn Taylor's story and the meaning of her artwork and be able to communicate that to prospective clients.
  • Be familiar enough with mental illness (especially my disorders) to convey Taylor's message in an accurate and sensitive way.
  • Be supportive of customers who may feel an emotional resonance with the brand.
  • Understand how to describe Taylor's style of artwork (i.e. abstract expressionism meets naïve art).

requirements:

  • Must have a passion for normalizing mental illness, which is a huge part of Taylor's brand.
  • Super interested in art, although you do not have to be an artist.
  • Hardworking individual who goes above and beyond what is expected of them, highly motivated
  • Careful attention to detail, especially when it comes to handling inventory, and organized.
  • A positive attitude that will attract customers instead of repel them!
  • Must have a team player mindset. No divas here, please.
  • At least 3 years of retail experience (if this is not true of you, you may explain why you are still qualified)
  • Excels at customer service
  • Able to operate an iPad 2 (because that's what we have)
  • Must adhere to a professional dress code (it's not that bad, I'm just not trying to have hoochy shorts or MAGA hats representing my brand).

Perks:

  • Direct experience selling artwork to the modern art consumer
  • Obtain valuable experience assisting a professional artist/entrepreneur who will be willing to give references
  • Experience and instruction on promoting art via social media
  • Free merch!
  • The ability to pick Taylor's brain (not during work hours)
  • Lunch and snacks obvi
  • Lots of puppy kisses from Frida (optional)
